Hansler School
Photo is approximately 1910-1912
SS#2 Hansler School was located on the Northwest corner of Effingham and Metler Rd. This land was donated to the town from Andrew Hansler (son of George Hansler). Schoolhouse is no longer there.
A couple of interesting points to note:
None of the boys across the front have shoes.
Almost no children are smiling.
The teacher appears to be holding chalk.
All girls are wearing dresses.
Many children in this classroom are descendants of Pelham’s original settlers.
Keep in mind Hansler School was a one room schoolhouse. This means all ages shared one classroom.
